1.2343 Steel Mechanical Properties:

Chrome–molybdenum–silicon–vanadium steel for hardening in oil and in air with very good hardenability, high firmness during the heat and resistance to the tempering, very good toughness and plastic properties during normal and also higher temperatures. Further the steel has a very good resistance to tearing of thermal fatigue and low sensitivity to quick changes of temperature. The steel is suitable for the heat treatment also for hardness over 1800 N/mm2 and for tools cooled by water. It is well-workable during the heat and well-workable in the soft-annealed state.

  • 1.2343 Introduction:

    DIN 2343 is one of the Hot Work, Chromium type tool steels. It is relatively low in carbon content and has good toughness and deep hardens by air quench from heat treatment. Good combination of toughness, hardness and wear resistance in hot. Resistance to softening and to cracking.

  • DIN 1.2379 Heat Treatment :

    The preheating of measuring and cutting tool steel is spheroidizing annealing, final heat treatment is quenching + low temperature tempering andhardness after heat treatment can reach 60~65HRC. When heat treat tool steel grades consideration should be given to hardening temperature, including ratio of heating, cooling and soakingtimes which will differ due to factors such as the shape and size of each chemical component. Other considerations during heat treatment include the type of furnace, quenching medium and work piece transfer facilities.

  • 1.2379 Applications : 

    Hot extrusion dies, forging die forging hammer, forging press die, precision forging die well as aluminum, copper and alloys die-casting mold.
